amy friend, a pensive and observant artist who writes with light, utilizes vintage photographs to comment on the fragility, not only of tangible artwork, but of our own breath as well. she interacts with these appropriated pieces by puncturing them, backlighting and rephotographing them.
she says, "'re-making' photographs that oscillate between what is present and what is absent...In a somewhat playful and yet, literal manner I return the subject of the photographs back to the light, while simultaneously bringing them forward...in reference to birth."
